In a nutshell
| Rejuran | Juvelook | |
|---|---|---|
| In a word | A regenerative treatment that helps tired skin 'recover' | A stimulating treatment that prompts your skin to make its own collagen |
| Main ingredient | Salmon-derived DNA fragments (PN, polynucleotide) | Slowly dissolving PDLLA particles + hyaluronic acid |
| Main concerns | Thin, sensitive skin, fine lines, dull texture, redness | Pores, shallow scars, loss of firmness, skin density |
| When you notice results | Gradually from 2–4 weeks on | Slowly over 1–3 months |
| Right after treatment | Bumps (small raised marks) are quite noticeable | Bumps settle relatively quickly, with mild swelling |
| How it feels | A dull, pressing ache when injected | Stinging; varies a lot from person to person |
Ingredients and how they work — why results show up late
Rejuran
- DNA fragments (PN) extracted and purified from salmon are injected in small amounts into the shallow layers of the skin.
- PN is known to help create an environment in which damaged skin can recover, which is why it is also called a 'regeneration injection'. Because your skin needs time to repair itself, results are felt from a few weeks later.
- Other products use similar PN-type ingredients, and they come in different concentrations and uses, such as ones made specifically for the eye area.
Juvelook
- PDLLA particles that slowly break down in the body are injected together with hyaluronic acid. The hyaluronic acid gives early hydration, while the PDLLA stimulates collagen to form around it.
- Collagen takes time to build up, so changes appear slowly over 1–3 months.
- There is also a product with slightly larger particles for volume (often called 'Juvelook Volume'), sometimes used to add fullness to hollow areas.
By concern — finding the right one for you
| Concern | Rejuran | Juvelook | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thin, sensitive skin and redness | ◎ | △ | Recovery-focused care often comes first |
| Fine lines around the eyes and cheeks | ◎ | ○ | The eye area is treated carefully with a dedicated product and dose |
| Dull skin texture and glow | ◎ | ○ | If the skin is very dry inside, hyaluronic acid may be added |
| Enlarged pores | ○ | ◎ | Often planned together with a laser |
| Shallow acne scars | ○ | ◎ | Deep scars are mainly treated with scar lasers and similar treatments |
| Firmness and skin density | ○ | ◎ | A sagging contour may be better suited to lifting |
| Volume in hollow areas | △ | ○ (volume product) | Noticeable volume may be better suited to fillers |
◎ main expected effect, ○ may help, △ not the main purpose — these are general tendencies, and the actual choice is made after a doctor's examination.
Pain and bumps — what the treatment day feels like
- 1Consultation (about 20 min)the doctor looks at your areas of concern and decides the product, dose and injection method (by hand or device). Your manager interprets.
- 2Cleansing and numbing cream (30–40 min)numbing cream is applied to the whole face. If you are sensitive to pain, other numbing methods can be discussed.
- 3Product checkyou confirm the label and amount of the product to be used in front of you, and it is opened then.
- 4Treatment (15–30 min)small amounts are injected across the whole face.
- 5Soothing (about 15 min)cooling or a calming mask settles redness and heat.
- Rejuran: because of the ingredient, there is a dull, pressing fullness as it is injected, and clear bumps rise at each injection point. They usually mostly settle within a day or two.
- Juvelook: many people describe it as stinging, and the bumps tend to settle relatively quickly, but you may notice mild swelling or small lumps you can feel for a few days.
- Both involve needles, so small bruises can appear. Bruises fade over about a week.
When results show, how many sessions and how far apart?
| Rejuran | Juvelook | |
|---|---|---|
| When you notice results | Gradually from 2–4 weeks on | Gradually over 1–3 months |
| Typical number of sessions | 3–4 sessions, 2–4 weeks apart | 2–3 sessions, 4+ weeks apart |
| How long it lasts | Around 6 months after treatment (varies by person) | Often aimed at around 1 year (varies by person) |
| Maintenance | One more session every few months | One more session as the effect fades |
Downtime — recovery after treatment
- Treatment dayBumps and redness at each injection point; Rejuran tends to be more noticeable. A mask or hat is handy.
- Days 1–2Bumps settle a lot. With Juvelook, mild swelling may remain.
- Around day 3Mostly coverable with makeup. Any bruising starts to fade from here.
- Week 1If you felt small lumps, they mostly dissolve by now. Your skin starts to feel more hydrated.
- Weeks 2–4With Rejuran, changes in skin texture and fine lines appear gradually.
- Months 1–3With Juvelook, changes in pores, firmness and density build up slowly. This is when you decide the timing of the next session.
Combining them
If your skin is thin and sensitive but you are also concerned about pores and firmness, the two products may be planned together. Methods differ by clinic — for example, injecting different areas on the same day, or first restoring skin condition with Rejuran and then having Juvelook about 4 weeks later.
| Combination | Consider it when |
|---|---|
| Rejuran alone | Sensitive, thin skin; fine lines and dullness are the main concerns |
| Juvelook alone | Pores, shallow scars and loss of firmness are the main concerns |
| Rejuran + Juvelook | You need both recovery and better density, and can visit several times |
| Laser + Rejuran/Juvelook | You want skin recovery and density care alongside a pigment or pore laser |
| Lifting + Rejuran/Juvelook | A sagging contour and skin texture are both concerns |
Sample travel schedules
4 days, 3 nights (one session of Rejuran or Juvelook)
- Day 1Arrive → consultation → treatment. Because of the bumps, keep dinner light at your accommodation
- Day 2Bumps settle and light sightseeing is fine. Avoid saunas and alcohol
- Day 3Makeup is possible for most people. From here is a comfortable time for photos.
- Day 4Skin check before departure → guidance on aftercare at home
If you have both products in separate visits
- First visit: diagnosis + one session of Rejuran (or Juvelook, depending on your skin)
- After you return home: moisturize, use sunscreen, and share photos at 2–4 weeks with your manager
- Next visit (4+ weeks later): the next session, or adjust the combination with another product
How to check it's genuine (please do check)
Both products go directly into the skin, so confirming that they are genuine and the right amount is important. The more popular a product is, the more look-alike names and packaging may exist, so feel free to make the requests below.
- Before treatment, check the product name ('Rejuran' or 'Juvelook'), the product type and the volume (ml/cc) on the box and label.
- Rejuran usually comes in a prefilled syringe. Check that a new, sealed one is opened in front of you.
- Juvelook usually comes as a powder in a vial that the clinic dilutes before use. Ask to see the label on the vial before it is opened, and ask how many vials are used and how they are diluted.
- If there is an authentication label or serial number, check that as well.
- After treatment, you can ask to see the used syringes or empty vials.
Precautions and warning signs
After treatment
- Skip makeup on the day; from the next day, apply it lightly with gentle products.
- Do not rub the injection area hard. For Juvelook, some clinics instruct a massage — do only what you are told.
- For 2–3 days, avoid saunas, jjimjilbang, hot baths, alcohol and intense exercise.
- For about a week, pause exfoliating and peeling products and apply sunscreen carefully.
When to contact your manager right away
- Redness, swelling or pain keep getting worse after several days
- The injection area is hot, produces pus, or you have a fever
- A hard lump grows or is still there after several weeks
